Our Passion. Do you remember when
you were a kid and you discovered something really cool that
you couldn’t wait to share with your friends? We sure do.
Though we’re a wee bit older now, sharing that marvelous
feeling of excitement is still what makes us want to jump out
of bed in the morning. Let us show you the things we’re
crazy about. We’ll reveal our favorite secrets, take you
places you’d probably never find on your own, and introduce
you to the locals, friends of ours. You will discover what past
participants have told us over and over, that our passion and
commitment make all the difference.
Our Active Guidance. We like to
show folks a good time. That’s why we offer a genuine guided
experience on our tours, which includes lots of care and interpretation
along the way. Rather than just handing you a map, briefing
you on points of interest and sending you off, we provide so
much more. Such as planned stops where we bring history alive.

A lovely lunch each day. Even a little coaching if you like.
Of course you also have the flexibility to go on your own whenever
you wish, but experience has taught us that our guidance is
the part of our tours people appreciate the most. You’ll
enjoy the camaraderie, fun, laughter and learning too. Don’t
spend your vacation simply reading from maps and cue sheets!

Our Timing. We painstakingly plan
many of our tours to accompany unique festivals and seasonal
variations that only happen once a year on that particular tour.
From the world-renowned Galway Arts festival in Western Ireland
to the frolicking Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg, Texas, we take
extra effort to highlight events that are especially delightful
and culturally revealing. Your most difficult decision may be
choosing between them.
Our Personal Attention. When it
comes to business, small is beautiful. For us, designing and
actively leading our own adventures is a personal endeavor,
a source of joy and pride. We see that process through from
start to finish, talking with you from our office one day, meeting
you on tour the next. Coupled with our small group sizes, the
end result is more personal attention for you, coming from experienced
people who love what they do. We have no desire to be the biggest,
just the best at what we do.
Our Experience. There is no substitute
for experience, and as the Irish saying goes, “We didn’t
just come down with the last shower of rain.” We have been
delighting active travelers with unforgettable journeys since
1987, and were avid cyclists and hikers decades before. Our
familiarity with these active pursuits runs deep, enabling us
to better understand and serve the needs of both the novice
and more advanced enthusiast. We’re old hands at making
your holiday the very best possible, and over the years our
journeys have been refined and proven time and again. You can
look forward to our unique blend of the very best biking and
walking routes, the most delicious and nutritious meals, and
a wealth of scenic attractions.

Travel the Planet Earth way
small personable groups. We limit
group size to 16 cyclists or 10 walkers on all our longer tours.
(Maximum on a weekend trip is 20.) This intimacy affords you
greater freedom and personalized attention. More important,
it allows you to gain a truer sense of place. In addition, it’s
not unusual for the camaraderie that develops during our fun-filled
adventures to turn into lasting friendships.
home away from home. Our accommodations
are recognized for their quality, comfort and character. From
cozy bed & breakfasts to small historic hotels and inns,
our choices are guided by the wonderful personal attention
you’ll receive the instant you arrive. The warm hospitality
of our hosts is legendary, and a keen reminder that small
is beautiful. Furthermore, since we return year after year,
when they throw out the welcome mat, it feels just like coming

and a delicious lunch each day, followed by special banquet
meals on select evenings. Other nights you’ll have freedom

always eager to share our culinary discoveries with you –
favorite restaurants and cafes that expertly prepare the best
regional cuisine. Moreover, our gourmet lunches garner rave
reviews! As our food “architect”, Valerie’s
years at the helm of the award winning Upper Crust Bakery
in Austin, Texas really make a difference.

to insure that our tours exceed your expectations. That means
caring for you in a number of ways. Before the journey even
begins, we provide comprehensive pre-trip materials to assist
you. Once the adventure starts, detailed information about
your day, insights regarding hidden wonders along the way
and our shared enthusiasm for each place become part of the
daily ritual. Plus, every tour includes our ever-attentive
van support, there to supply you with snacks, repairs, encouragement
or a lift if you need it.
expert guidance. To paraphrase
Pogo, we have met our guides and they are us. We’ve logged
thousands of miles cycling and walking these scenic areas
and we’ll skillfully share them with you. However, we
don’t do it alone. A variety of local guides, our friends,
also assist on each adventure. They may be national park naturalists,
book publishers, even the former parish priest. Each is an
expert in their local community, and they all share one thing
with us - the common desire to see that you have the best
experience possible.
