Ft. Davis Star Party Bike Tour

Day 1
Get ready for three days of spectacular West Texas scenery and
panoramic night skies when you arrive at the historic Veranda
Country Inn in Ft. Davis on Friday
afternoon for the start of our Star Party Bike Tour. Relax and
enjoy the “mile high” atmosphere while you select
from a number of optional activities including a visit to Ft.
Davis National Historic Site or an energetic hike in the Davis
Mountains State Park. Then after a delightful welcome banquet,
we’ll head for McDonald Observatory and a heavenly “star
party.”
Day 2
On Saturday we’ll tackle the sensational Ft. Davis Loop,
a 74 mile journey that takes in fantastic mountain vistas, beautiful
canyons and miles of open rangeland that just scream “Texas!”
Top off this unforgettable ride with a nighttime trip into the
desert to view the mysterious Marfa lights.
Day 3
Sunday you’ll get your chance to pedal a route that Big
Bend Quarterly calls “the best bike ride in Texas.”
They even claim it’s 90% downhill! Thanks to our friendly,
efficient shuttle service, you’ll start at the McDonald
Observatory dome, (the highest point on Texas roadways) and
cruise to Balmorhea State Park, a pleasurable 49 miles away.
While you’re there you may even want to sample the constant
72-degree waters of one of Texas most famous spring fed swimmin’
holes.
